Accessibility

1. Why this matters here

A substantial share of the people using this site have a service-connected disability affecting vision, hearing, cognition, or motor control. An inaccessible interface would exclude precisely the people the service exists for.

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA.

2. What that means in practice

• Body text is set at 17 pixels with generous line spacing, and zoom is never capped — you can pinch or zoom to 500 percent.
• Colour contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for interface components.
• Every function is reachable by keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
• Forms use real labels, describe their errors in words, and announce state changes to screen readers.
• Animation is subtle by default and switched off entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
• Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
• Page structure uses proper headings and landmarks, so screen reader users can navigate by structure rather than reading linearly.

3. Known limitations

We would rather name these than let you discover them:

• Documents you upload are your own files. We cannot make a scanned PDF from a records office accessible, and some of them are poor-quality images.
• Video consultations depend on third-party software whose accessibility we do not control. Tell us what you need and we will accommodate it, including by conducting the consultation by telephone.

4. If any part of this does not work for you

Call us. We will complete any step of the process with you over the phone, including intake, scheduling, and payment. Using the website is a convenience, not a requirement of the service.

5. Telling us about a problem

If you hit an accessibility barrier, contact us and describe what happened, what page you were on, and what assistive technology you use. We treat these as defects, not suggestions, and we will tell you when it is fixed.
